Sligo Rovers vs Shamrock Rovers

Sligo Rovers welcome Shamrock Rovers on Saturday night to the Showgrounds as they hope to try and increase the gap between the two sides and push for a potential 4th place finish in the league.

Sligo have been on a good run of form, picking up 11 points from a possible 15. Chris Butler is the only injury concern for Paul Cooke, whilst Gavin Peers is suspended for the game.

Unlike Sligo, Shamrock Rovers have a number of injuries going into the clash. Eric McGill and Darren Stapleton are out for the rest of the season with ligament and cartilage damage respectively. John Martin is being rested due to a hip problem. There are fitness doubts over Aidan Price and Stephen Rice.

Manager Jim Crawford said, "We're down to the bears bones, we're giving Aidan and Stephen every chance to pull through before deciding on the team.

"John Martin, I feel, came back too soon after his hip operation, so he's being rested. On the positive side, Tadhg Purcell is fit and ready and will definitely feature against Sligo.

"I've also introduced some lads from the A team to first team training. They've done really well and I wouldn't hesitate to give them an opportunity against Sligo Rovers."

Next week see’s Shamrock Rovers play their final game in Tolka Park before moving to their new home in Tallaght.

The game on Saturday kicks off at the late time of 20:00.

Extratime Prediction: We think here at Extratime that Sligo Rovers will win this clash by 2 goals to 1, and will push Cork City for that 5th spot. If Drogheda’s poor form continues, and a potential points deduction to come, that could well turn out to be 4th place.
