LSL Senior Sunday round-up: Lucan United close in on title, St Francis defeat Crumlin while Liffey Wanderers draw with Wayside

Lucan United need a maximum of nine points to claim the LSL Senior Sunday crown after claiming a point against closest challengers St Mochta’s. 

Keith Baker’s side have been the pacesetters this season and just three wins away from sealing the deal. 

But they had to make do with a point against St Mochta’s at home on Wednesday night. 

Recent wins over St Francis (2-1) and Malahide United (5-0) have put them on the brink of the title as they chase down the title with just five games left to play.

Meanwhile, St Francis’ strong season back in the top-flight showed no sign of slowing down after they defeated Crumlin United at Armagh Road. 

Ger Shortt scored for the Dublin 8 side - but goals from Niall Lanigan and Jack O’Connor won it for the John Hyland Park outfit. 

The result sees Francis move into third place and they are just one point behind second placed St Mochta’s - although they have played two games more than them. 

Crumlin, however, are now 9th in the table and are just three points off 12th placed Tolka Rovers - the final position in the relegation places. Tolka also have a game in hand on Crumlin to play. 



Elsewhere, Killester-Donnycarney continued their battle for safety with a 0-0 draw against Bangor Celtic. 

The Hadden Park side are four points clear of the drop with four games left to play. Bangor are sitting comfortably in sixth place on 30 points with six fixtures left.

Meanwhile, Liffey Wanderers played out a 1-1 draw with Wayside Celtic at the John Young Astro in Ringsend. 

The point is unlikely to do either side any favours with Liffeys rooted to the foot of the table, while Wayside are 11th and just one point clear of the drop. 

Liam Donnelly netted for the Ringsend side after Darragh O’Connor opened the scoring for Wayside.



And at Whitehall Stadium, Maynooth University Town took a giant leap towards safety with a late win over Home Farm. 

The Co Kildare side struck late to defeat the North Dubliners who are quickly running out of games to stay up. 

Maynooth are now unbeaten in their last four and are three points clear of Tolka Rovers in 12th. Home Farm second bottom and one point off safety - but they have played two games more than 11th placed Wayside.  

Bluebell United and Kilbarrack United played out at a 1-1 draw at Capco Park. Joshua Ojelabi scored his eighth goal of the season for the Bell while Aaron Humphries was on target for Kilbarrack.
