Left-back Sergio Reguilón has been acquired on loan from Tottenham Hotspur until the season's end by Brentford.

This transfer follows his recent spell at Manchester United, where he made 12 appearances.

Reguilón, who previously played for clubs like Real Madrid, Sevilla, Atlético Madrid, and Tottenham, brings extensive experience to Brentford.

Thomas Frank, Brentford's head coach, expressed his satisfaction with this acquisition, stating, “We’ve been talking for a while about how we need a good left-back, and we managed to get a very good one. I’m very pleased with the job that Phil Giles and Lee Dykes have done.”

Frank emphasised Reguilón's fit for Brentford: “He’s very offensive, has a very good cross and a very good left foot. He’s got the experience we need to complement the rest of the squad and he’s a good character.”

The defender's career highlights include a journey through Real Madrid’s Academy and a senior debut with UD Logrones.

He played for Real Madrid Castilla, returned to UD Logrones, and then became a regular starter for Real Madrid Castilla.

Reguilón's breakthrough came with his promotion to Real Madrid’s first team, making his senior debut in the Champions League in October 2018.

His time at Real Madrid culminated in participating in the team that won the 2018 FIFA Club World Cup.

A loan to Sevilla in the 2019/20 season saw Reguilón making a significant impact, contributing to their Europa League victory and earning a spot in the competition's Squad of the Season.

He then made the move to Tottenham in September 2020.

Following a loan to Atlético Madrid and a stint at Manchester United, Reguilón now joins Brentford, ready to showcase his skills in the Premier League once again.

On the international stage, he has represented Spain, debuting in September 2020 with an assist in a UEFA Nations League match against Ukraine.
