On Friday, striker Lauren Kelly signed the dotted line and committed her future to Shamrock Rovers as preparations kick-off in Tallaght for the new season.

The Short Grass County native, who converted five goals in Rovers’ debut in the SSE Airtricity Women’s Premier Division, will now feature in her second season with the Hoops, having made 19 appearances across all competitions in 2023.

Kelly is one of a number of key players who have committed their futures to The Hoops for their second season in the Premier Division in recent days.

On Kelly's signing, Head Coach Collie O’Neill told the club’s media team: “Lauren is one of the most accomplished finishers in the game. Her intelligence on the field and clinical finishing make her an invaluable asset and we are thrilled to have her back with us.”

Rovers, having secured a respectable third place finish last season, will no doubt have their sights set on pole position come November - something Kelly herself is hungry for.

Speaking to the club’s media after signing her new deal, the 26 year old said: “I’m really happy to re-sign with Rovers for the upcoming season. I can’t wait to get going and push on from last season and hopefully come the end of the season, we will have some silverware to show for it.”
