Women’s Premier Division round-up: Shelbourne keep pressure on Peamount as Sligo defeat Bohemians

Pearl Slattery and Kerri Letmon scored against DLR Waves as Shelbourne moved to within six points of leaders Peamount United.

The Reds needed to see off their Dublin rivals to keep their title hopes alive – and they did so in comfortable fashion.

Slattery opened the scoring for Noel King’s side just before the interval as she got on the end of a Noelle Murray corner-kick.

And former DLR Waves player Kerri Letmon ensured Shels would leave South Dublin with a victory when she slotted home following a Leah Doyle cross.

Shels have just four games remaining to claw back the deficit on leaders Peamount – with games against Shamrock Rovers, Sligo Rovers, Bohemians and Cork City to come.

The Peas still have to play Treaty United at home, Wexford Youths away and Galway United on the road before their final league game at Greenogue against Sligo Rovers on November 11.

Meanwhile, Sligo Rovers moved further clear of basement side Cork City with a win over Bohemians at the Showgrounds.

The FAI Cup semi-finalists are now on seven points while the Leesiders sit on just two at the bottom.

Keri Loughrey and Sarah Kiernan both scored for the Bit O’Red to give them a 2-0 at the half-time break.



And while Bohemians halved the deficit through Lynn Craven in the 67th minute, a brace from Paula McGrory condemned the Dublin 7 side to a 4-1 loss.

Bohs remain in fifth but have played two games more than sixth-placed Wexford Youths.

Wexford Youths v Shamrock Rovers, Cork City v Athlone Town and Treaty United v Galway United were all postponed due to inclement weather conditions.
