Liam Scales features for Celtic in Champions League opener against Feyenoord
Former Shamrock Rovers and UCD defender Liam Scales made his Champions League debut for Celtic against Feyenoord on Tuesday night.
The former Hoops left-sided defender was picked to start by Bhoys boss Brendan Rodgers in Rotterdam for Celtic’s Champions League group stage opener.
And while Celtic were beaten 2-0 on the road, Scales performed admirably against the odds.
Calvin Stengs' free-kick put the hosts ahead on the stroke of half-time while Alireza Jahanbakhsh doubled their advantage during the second-half.
And the Celts were reduced to nine-men following the dismissals of Gustaf Lagerbielke and Odin Thiago Holm in the second half.
But Scales saw out the game and will be looking to impress during Celtic’s remaining group stage games.
Lazio and Spanish giants Atletico Madrid are also in the Glaswegians group – with those two drawing 1-1 in Rome on Tuesday.
Superleague -> Leinster Senior League -> League of Ireland -> Scottish Premier Division -> Champions League.
