Tottenham Hotspur confirmed the signing of Italian goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario, a transfer from Empoli that is still subject to international clearance and a work permit.

The Italy international has committed to a contract with Spurs that extends until 2028, and he is set to wear the number 13 shirt.

Born in Udine, Italy, Vicario started his professional journey with Bearzi before moving on to join Udinese's youth team in August 2013.

He further honed his skills through a season-long loan with Fontanafredda during the 2014/15 season, appearing in a total of 30 games.

The goalkeeper, noted for his commanding presence and ability to play out from the back, moved to Venezia in August 2015.

During his tenure with Venezia, he made 89 appearances in all competitions, keeping a commendable record of 28 clean sheets.

In the 2016/17 season, Vicario contributed to the club's promotion to Serie B and clinched the Coppa Italia Lega Pro.

In July 2019, after four years with Venezia, Vicario signed with Cagliari before embarking on a season-long loan to Perugia, where he made 39 appearances. He returned to Cagliari and made his Serie A debut in April 2021.

Following seven appearances for the Rossoblù, he transferred to Empoli on a season-long loan in July 2021 - a deal which became permanent the following year.

During his impressive two-year stint with Empoli, Vicario made 71 appearances in all competitions, prompting his first international call-up in September 2022.

He was part of Italy’s UEFA Nations League campaign, where the Azzurri secured a respectable third-place finish.
