Seven senior players bid farewell to Leicester City
Leicester City Football Club has announced the departure of seven senior professionals whose contracts are due to expire this June.
The high-profile exodus will see Youri Tielemans, Çağlar Söyüncü, Daniel Amartey, Nampalys Mendy, Ryan Bertrand, Ayoze Pérez, and Tetê end their tenure at the King Power Stadium.
Youri Tielemans, a name synonymous with Leicester City's 2021 Emirates FA Cup Final victory, will depart after 195 appearances.
The Belgian midfielder's permanent move to Leicester in 2019 saw him score numerous spectacular goals and become a beloved figure among fans.
His standout performance in the FA Cup Final earned him both Player of the Season and Players' Player of the Season in 2021.
Çağlar Söyüncü, the Turkish defender signed from Freiburg in 2018, also contributed to the Club's FA Cup and FA Community Shield victories.
Daniel Amartey and Nampalys Mendy, both of whom joined Leicester in 2016, have also confirmed their departure.
Amartey, instrumental in the Club's Premier League title-winning season, leaves after nearly 150 appearances, while Mendy bids adieu following 100 appearances.
Ayoze Pérez, noted for his hat-trick in a record 9-0 win over Southampton, will also leave Leicester City.
Having made 114 appearances since joining from Newcastle United in 2019, Pérez leaves a significant imprint on the Club, including his critical contribution to the FA Cup Final in 2021.
Tetê, the Brazilian winger on a short-term deal from Shakhtar Donetsk, and defender Ryan Bertrand, who signed on a free transfer two seasons ago, also complete the list of departures.
The Club is still in discussions with captain Jonny Evans regarding his future. Meanwhile, the contract of midfielder Hamza Choudhury has been extended to June 2024.
