Declan’s Biography

Declan Devine began his coaching career with then Institute manager, Paul Hegarty. Devine originally moved to the Brandywell to take up the position of Youth Development Officer and after huge success in this post was promoted by then 1st team manager Gavin Dykes to become his assistant manager.

When Stephen Kenny later took over as manager he gave Devine the position of 1st team coach. He was part of the backroom team responsible for delivering two League Cups and an FAI Cup. Following this success, Devine then followed Kenny to Dunfermline Athletic on 5 December 2006 again taking up the post of his 1st team coach. Devine described the move as a "massive wrench" but felt for personal reasons that he needed to move on. However after Stephen Kenny's appointment as manager of Derry City in late 2007, Devine, too signed back with the Brandywell club.

Following the departure of Stephen Kenny to Shamrock Rovers in December 2011, Declan was appointed manager of Derry City FC on 6th January 2012. In his first season in charge Derry started well in the league before falling away but they did lift the FAI Cup after beating St Patrick's Athletic 3-2 in the final. In 2013 Derry finished fourth in the Premier Division but Declan left the club by mutual consent at the end of the season.

Devine became the Bohemians manager in late 2022 after the departure of Keith Long from the role.
