European Indoor Championships - Team Ireland Schedule & Results

The European Indoor Championships has arrived and Ireland has sent an 11 strong team to the competition.

The following is a breakdown of the Irish Athletes starting times. As the athletes compete we will keep you up to date on their progress. If athletes progress to further rounds we will update the schedule.

Friday 1st March

10.30am - 60m Hurdles - First Round - Derval O'Rourke

HEAT 1 - Lane 7 (PB 7.84 SB 8.08) 

RESULT: 2nd Place in 8.05 seconds - Qualification successful

11.02am - 400m - First Round - Brian Gregan

HEAT 1 - Lane 5 (PB 46.07 SB 46.07) 

RESULT: 1st Place in 46.97 seconds - Qualification successful

11.47am - 3000m - First Round -  Ciaran O'Lionaird, John Travers, Stephen Scullion

HEAT 1 - Ciaran O'Lionaird and Stephen Scullion

RESULT: Ciaran O'Lionaird finishes in first in a time of 7.55.12 , Stepehn Scullion finishes in 8th in 8.00.78. 

HEAT 2 - John Travers

RESULT: John Travers finishes in 11th in a time of 8.23.83. 

4.15pm - Pole Vault - First Round - Tori Pena

RESULT: Cleared 4.16 and finished joint 14th

4.40pm - 800m - First Round - Rose Anne Galligan, Ciara Everard

HEAT 2 - Ciara Everard

RESULT: Ciara Everard finishes 1st in 2.04.33 and qualifies for the next round.

HEAT 3 - Rose-Anne Galligan 

RESULT: Rose-Anne Galligan finishes 1st in 2.03.62 and qualifies for the next round.

5.27pm - 60m Hurdles - Semi Finals 2 - Derval O'Rourke

SEMI-FINAL 2 

RESULT:  4nd Place in 8.00 seconds - Qualification successful for final 

6.05pm - 1500m - First Round - Claire Tarplee

SEMI-FINAL 3 

RESULT: Finished 4th in a time of 4.15.16 and unfortunately will not qualify as a fastest loser 

6.55pm - 60m Hurdles - Final - Derval O'Rourke

RESULT: 4th PLACE - 7.95 seconds - O'Rourke misses out on a medal by .01 of a second.

Saturday 2nd March

11.25am - 3000m - First Round - Fionnuala Britton

HEAT 1 

Result: Finished 3rd in a time of 9.03.30 and qualifies for the final on Sunday at 11.10

12.42pm - 60m - First Round - Amy Foster

HEAT 2 

Result: Finished 5th in a time of 7.33 and qualifies for the semi-finals as second fastest runner up at 3.30pm on Sunday

4.30pm - 800m - Semi Final 1 - Rose-Anne Galligan

Result: Finished 5th in a time of 2.02.84 and did not qualify for final

4.38pm - 800m - Semi Final 2 - Ciara Everard

Result: Finished 3rd in a time of 2.03.40 and qualified for the final

4.45pm - 400m - Semi Final 1 - Brian Gregan

Result: Did Not Finish

5.20pm - 3000m - Final - Ciaran O'Lionaird

RESULT: 3rd PLACE - 7.50.26 - Personal Best time and a BRONZE medal for Ireland

Sunday 3rd March

10.45am - 800m - Fiinal - Ciara Everard 

Result: Finished in 6th place in a time of 2.02.55

11.10am - 3000m - Fiinal - Fionnuala Britton

RESULT: 3rd PLACE - 9.00.54 - BRONZE medal for Ireland

3.30am - 60m - Semi-fiinal - Amy Foster

Result: Finished in 7th place in a time of 7.37 seconds
