Peamount await Champions League draw

 

The current Bus Eireann Women's National League champions Peamount United will find out the teams they will be facing in the 2012/2013 UEFA Women's Champions League Qualifying Round on Thursday 28th June (1pm Irish time).

 

22 teams have already received byes to the next round, so the remaining 32 teams will battle it out for the final 10 spots. The Republic of Ireland are ranked 35th and will be in Pot 3 for the draw on Thursday.

 

The draw will produce eight groups of four teams. Eight teams have been designated as hosts and will be drawn from a separate pot, placed in their group according to their seeding position.

 

The eight group winners, plus the two best runners-up, proceed to the draw for the round of 32, with the two-legged knockout phase beginning the following month.

 

Last year, Peamount United became the first ever Irish football team to qualify for the knock-out stages of the UEFA Champions League after emerging from a group which included Spanish Champions Rayo Vallecano, Pärnu of Estonia and Slovenian champions, Krka.
