Bohs to face Wolves in friendly
Bohemians will play Wolverhampton Wanderers in a friendly at Dalymount
Park on Saturday the 17th of July (kick off 3pm), the Airtricity
Premier Division club announced on Monday morning.
The friendly will be the first pre-season friendly for Wolves and will also mark the homecoming of former Bohemian Stephen Ward, who left the Phibsborough club in 2007 to join Wolves.
Wolves manager Mick McCarthy made the trip to play Bohemians three years ago, and was quick to state how the match offers Wolves an opportunity to prepare effectively.
“We are always well looked after but more importantly the training and matches offer just what we need at that stage of pre-season” said the ex-Ireland international.
“The other big advantage is that it’s reasonably close to home in the event of us needing to speak to any potential transfer targets and is also fairly accessible for supporters who I know often like to follow the team during pre-season,” McCarthy stated.
Wolves will look to consolidate their place in the English Premier League this season, with the help of Irish internationals such as Kevin Doyle, Andy Keogh and Kevin Foley.
McCarthy outlined how the match against Bohemians marks the first step in Wolves’ preparation for the new English season: “We’re all looking forward to the trip, which, along with all the other fixtures, should give us a really competitive build-up to the season.”
