Everton vs Liverpool derby postponed due to severe weather conditions
The highly anticipated Merseyside derby between Everton and Liverpool, initially set for 12:30 pm GMT today at Goodison Park, has been postponed.
The decision came after a meeting this morning involving representatives from both clubs, Merseyside Police, and Liverpool City Council.
The meeting was convened by the Safety Advisory Group due to strong wind gusts in the area, alongside an amber severe wind warning effective until early Sunday morning.
A club spokesperson expressed regret over the disruption: "We apologise for the inconvenience caused and thank supporters for their understanding."
The safety of everyone involved was highlighted as a top priority.
"Whilst we appreciate this will be deeply disappointing for supporters, the safety of fans, staff, and players is of paramount importance," they added.
Details regarding the new date for the match will be communicated in the future. Meanwhile, tickets already purchased for today's game will be valid for the rescheduled date.
