Newport County sign Seb Palmer-Houlden on season-long loan from Bristol City
Newport County has confirmed the acquisition of 19-year-old Seb Palmer-Houlden on a season-long loan from Championship team Bristol City.
Palmer-Houlden, a player for Bristol City's U21 team last season, helped guide the young Robins to a successful 22/23 campaign, contributing 17 goals. His performance played a pivotal role in the team's second-place finish in the Professional Development League 2.
Before joining Newport County, Palmer-Houlden advanced through the youth setup at Bristol City, from U8's to U21's, and gained experience through loan spells in the National League at both Chippenham and Yeovil Town.
In addition to his performance, his contribution last season earned him a contract extension with Bristol City, which he recently signed. Palmer-Houlden also accompanied the first team to Austria for a pre-season camp.
Speaking on the new addition to the squad, Newport County's manager, Graham Coughlan, expressed excitement.
"Seb is a great young lad, and he’s got lots of potential. Seb has fantastic mobility, he’s a very natural finisher and his commitment and attitude fits our DNA perfectly. He is a good size and has a good physique to match it. We were lacking in that position (forward), so I’m glad we can bring Seb in to help fill it.”
Coughlan anticipates a dynamic partnership between Palmer-Houlden, Omar Bogle, and Kiban, all set to battle it out on the pitch.
He added, “We are really looking forward to having Seb with us and we’d like to thank Bristol City for helping us get this move over the line.”
Enthusiastic about his move, Palmer-Houlden said, “I cannot wait for the first home game of the season at Rodney Parade, to hear and experience the atmosphere with all the fans around. Bring it on, I can’t wait to start the season.”
