League Preview: Treaty United -v- Longford Town

TREATY UNITED

Treaty United will be looking to maintain their good recent run of form against Longford Town on Friday night at the Market’s Field.

Tommy Barrett’s side are unbeaten against De Town at home and went unbeaten against De Town for the whole of last season.

Three games ended up in draws, with Treaty United winning the third meeting between the pair at the Limerick venue.

On that occasion, a Marc Ludden penalty and brace from Enda Curran set them on their way to a 3-0 win over the then Gary Cronin managed side.

But since then, Treaty United have struggled in the First Division this season and are just two points ahead of bottom-placed Kerry in the table.

However, they picked up a solid point away to Wexford last week.

Curran scored in that, and that brought his tally this season up to four goals – their only scorer this season.

Marc Ludden is expected to remain out with an injury for the visit of De Town to the banks of the River Shannon.

LONGFORD TOWN

Longford Town will be looking to back up their first win of the season against Kerry last week when they visit Treaty United on Friday night.

A Josh Giurgi brace inspired Longford to a win over the Kingdom, but they will be keen to a record a first away win at the Market’s Field against Treaty United.

“You will have two very organised teams, and they will both very hard to break down,” Longford boss Stephen Henderson said.

“Tommy (Barrett) has done an incredible job with Treaty United since he has come in there. They are a really good side and have match winners.

“That’s what we have turned into but we have only done this a couple of weeks.

“Hopefully the win against Kerry can give us the confidence that we can win games at this level.

“Apart from the Athlone game we have deserved something out of every game and I am glad the players were rewarded last week.”

Aaron Walsh and Cristian Magerusan are expected to miss out for Longford Town.

Referee: Declan Toland.
