Waterford part ways with Danny Searle five games into season

First Division promotion hunters Waterford have confirmed they have parted ways with boss Danny Searle.

The Blues have endured a patchy start to the season this term at the RSC, and trail leaders Galway United in the table.

And the club have acted to dismiss their current boss before the gap grows even larger than it already is just five games in.

Their game on Friday evening against Treaty United was postponed at the 11th hour due to a waterlogged pitch at the Market's Field.

Waterford have appointed former player Brian Murphy as their interim boss in the meantime.

A statement read: “Waterford Football Club can confirm Danny Searle has been relieved of his duties as Head Coach.

“Everyone at Waterford FC would like to place on record their thanks to Danny for his hard work and professionalism during his time at the club.

“The search for his replacement will begin immediately, with Brian Murphy taking charge of the first team in the interim period.”
