Cork City seal Munster Senior Cup final date with Cobh Ramblers

Colin Healy’s Cork City have reached the final of the Munster Senior Cup following their last-gasp win against Waterford at the RSC on Tuesday night.

Ten-man City won the game late on thanks to a winner from Cian Bargary.

Goalkeeper Aaron Mannix was dismissed for Cork City early on but that did not stop the Leesiders taking the lead through Tunde Owolabi in the first-half.

But just before the break Waterford levelled via Wassim Aouachria as the former Charlton scored from the spot.

And as the game looked to hurtling towards a stalemate Cork City struck late to break Waterford hearts.

Bargary scored for the Leesiders after being assisted by Barry Coffey.

They will face reigning champions Cobh Ramblers in the decider after Shane Keegan’s side defeated Treaty United in their semi-final.

The Rams won the game 3-2 at Jackman Park on Monday evening despite falling behind early on in the contest.

Former Galway United star Colin Kelly opened the scoring for Tommy Barrett’s side in the 4th minute.

However, Ramblers levelled matters minutes later through Conor Drinan in the 10th minute – and then took the lead just before the interval via Jake Hegarty.

Liam Kervick then scored in the 56th minute to make it 3-1 but Treaty scored a late consolation late on when Darren Nwankwo scored.

The result means that there will be a repeat of last season’s Munster Senior Cup final when Cobh defeated Cork City at Turner’s Cross in September.

James O’Leary scored the winner for the Rams on that occasion.
