Cork City sign Swedish defender on loan

Cork City manager Colin Healy has unveiled Kevin Custovic as his latest new player to sign for the club ahead of the 2023 season.

22 year-old Custovic is a Swedish born defensive player who joins for the season on loan from Vejle Boldklub. 

He is the second Swede to join the club after the arrival of Albin Winbo.

He began his career with IFK Västerǻs before joining Västerǻs SK in 2017. He played 42 times for the club in between loan spells at Skiljebo SK, Enkӧpping SK and Nykӧping BIS.

He enjoyed his best spell in 2020 where he made 20 appearances.

From here he joined the newly promoted Vejle in Denmark in 2021 before going out on loan again to Ӧrebro SK in August 2022 for the remainder of the season.

He is a player who can provide cover in midfield and at right-back.

Healy welcomed the signing, saying: “We have been doing a lot of work to identify signings who will add to the group. We feel Kevin has the ability to do that.

“He is a versatile defensive player, he works hard, and has a good attitude. We look forward to welcoming him into the group and seeing him in action.”
