Longford manager Stephen Henderson has announced two more players who have signed for the club ahead of the 2023 season kick-off.

De Town are looking to build upon what they achieved last season and go one further. Despite a positive end to the campaign in which they finished fourth, they were unable to overcome Galway United in the play-offs. They have had to contend with the departure of several key players and were looking to re-build.

Striker Cristian Magerusan signed for the club ahead of the 2022 season and became a fans favourite. He notched up four goals and five assists in his 20 appearances last season.

Defender Shane Elworthy is heading into his fifth year at the club. The 25-year-old was integral to their impressive displays in 2022. Equally comfortable as a full-back, or wing-back, he caused plenty of damage to sides via his attacking style.

The club have stated that they expect to announce more members of the squad in due course. Longford begin their season with a home tie with Athlone Town on 18th of February.
