Friday night will see Dundalk FC line out against Shelbourne FC on Friday night wearing one-off jersey in aid of  Motor Neurone charity Watch Your Back. Founded by Dundalk native Roy Taylor who was diagnosed with MND in 2018, Watch Your Back MND will replace Bet Regal on the front of the player jerseys. These jerseys are to be auctioned off at the end of the game with more information, including the email address to bid, available at the following link https://www.dundalkfc.com/mnd-jersey-auction/.

Speaking to dundalkfc.com, Dundalk FC chief operating officer Martin Connolly referenced the work already carried out by Roy Taylor and 'MND Warrior' Sean Woods, another Louth native. Most recently, they were involved in raising funds for the 'Climb With Charlie' campaign which brought in two million euro for the Irish Motor Neurone Disease Association and Pieta House while Taylor has previously released a couple of singles in aid of MND.

“As a club, we believe that we have a responsibility to use our influence and reach to highlight and promote what is happening in our town and local community,” said Dundalk FC chief operating officer Martin Connolly.

“Roy and Sean and their families have shown great courage over the past four years and we are calling on all of our supporters to get behind this fundraiser and help the Taylor family – and the many other families around the country – in their battle against Motor Neurone Disease.

“We would like to thank our main sponsors at BetRegal for initiating this brilliant initiative and we would also like to thank the FAI for their support. We hope this campaign will provide Watch Your Back MND with a platform to raise awareness and much-needed funding of this devastating disease".

This is the second fundraising campaign involving kits carried out by the county Louth club in recent years, following their purple kit in aid of Temple Street Children's Hospital in 2019.

Fellow Premier Division club Finn Harps also released a purple kit in aid of Donegal Down Syndrome last season while the front of jersey sponsor space has also been used by a number of clubs over the past number of seasons to raise awareness for various organisations- today saw Cobh Ramblers launch a partnership with Rainbow Club Cork Centre for Autism featuring on a new third kit. Cobh also used the same space to raise awareness of suicide last season, while last month, UCD AFC announced Jigsaw as charity partner with the UCD Student's Union.
