Former Dundalk star Jamie McGrath named St Mirren Player of the Year
Jamie McGrath has been crowned St Mirren player of the year after a brilliant season with the Paisley outfit.
The Athboy native scored 14 goals this season from midfield, helping the Buddies to their highest Scottish top-flight finish since 1989.
They finished in 7th place having agonisingly missed out on a place in the top 6 before the league split.
The 24-year-old began his playing career with hometown club Athboy Celtic in Meath before moving on to Dublin club Cherry Orchard.
He would then take in spells with UCD and St Patrick’s Athletic before enjoying a trophy-laden stint at Dundalk where he won two league titles and an FAI Cup during his time at Oriel Park.
McGrath joined the Saints in 2019 and has played a key role for Jim Goodwin’s side, scoring key goals as they made their way to two Hampden semi-finals in the Scottish League Cup and Scottish Cup.
His heroics included a goal and an assist in a famous victory over Scottish champions Glasgow Rangers.
