extratime.ie Sportscast Episode 145 - There is no LOI in Team (Town or Tribe)
We caught up with the SSE Airtricity League First Division's top scorer this week as Cabinteely striker Rob Manley joined us on the show.
Our Sportscast host Declan Marron spoke to Rob about Cabinteely’s current unbeaten run and how getting a decent string of games has been crucial to him grabbing ten goals so far in what is a breakthrough season for the striker.
Macdara Ferris dialed in to (briefly) disparage the Stradbrook surface but mainly to talk about the UEFA under-17 European Championship that is currently being hosted in Ireland.
He was full of praise for French forward Adil Aouchiche – even if he couldn’t pronounce his name – the PSG player who grabbed four goals in France’s 6-1 quarter-final win on Sunday over the Czech Republic (who had advanced to the knock out stages in place of the Republic of Ireland).
We discussed Dundalk going top of the league for the first time this season as they begin to really hit their stride – banking 19 points from the last 21 on offer.
We also touch on the ongoing saga of Limerick player Sean Russell’s unpaid expenses and surgery costs.
Our recommended read is the replies to the RTÉ tweeted advert that neglected our own precious league and we discuss the inclusion of… eh well known Irish football club… Liverpool on the national broadcasters ‘Your team, your town, your tribe’ video.
