Ramblers sign two more as squad building continues
Cobh Ramblers announced two new signings ahead of the 2015 first division season yesterday. Stephen McCarthy and Andrew Bhandarkar signed for the club following in the footsteps of Shane O’Connor who signed for the club on Sunday.
These signings mean that Martin Cambridge has now signed five new players ahead of the season after Ross McCarthy and Peter White signed last month.
McCarthy was on trial with neighbours Cork City last September even playing against Ramblers in a friendly but wasn’t signed and now joins Cobh Ramblers for the season. The 19 year old has international experience having played for the Irish u-19 squad in the past when he was with Sunderland as part of their scholarship programme but got released at the end of his term and now sees himself back playing in Ireland. The right winger hails from Skibbereen in West Cork who he left at the age of 16 to go cross channel and the fans at Colman’s Park will be hoping for some big performances this season.
Bhandakar is no stranger to Cobh having played for them during the 2013 campaign after previously playing for Limerick in the First Division who signed him from Munster Senior League Club College Corinthians. He left Cobh during 2014 to play for Cork team Casement Celtic but has now joined back ahead of the current campaign.
Cobh hope to announce more signings in the coming weeks as they seek to improve on last season’s bottom of the First Division finish.
