Morrison and Patton head north
Derry City have today announced the signings of striker Cillian Morrison and goalkeeper Shaun Patton on one-year deals.
Donegal born Morrison signs for The Candystripes having left Cork City, whom he only joined in June, making 5 appearances in an ultimately unsuccessful spell at Turners Cross. Morrison was previously on the books of UCD for the start of the 2014 season where he scored four goals in 12 appearances.
This will be Morrison’s second spell playing with Derry City as he was previously on their books back in 2010 after joining from boyhood club Letterkenny Rovers. He left Derry City in 2010 to join UCD and take a place in their prestigious scholarship scheme.
Goalkeeper Shaun Patton joins Derry City from Finn Harps and will go in the opposite direction to Ciarán Gallagher who signed for Donegal outfit earlier in the week.
The 19-year-old joins Derry City after first playing League of Ireland football when he was 16 years old for Finn Harps, saving a Gary Dempsey penalty against Waterford United. He failed to make an appearance for Finn Harps last season as Conor Winn held the number one spot for Harps.
