Naughton re-elected as chairman of FAI National League
Eamon Naughton has been re-elected as chairman of the FAI National League Executive Committee during the FAI’s National League Convention at FAI Headquarters in Abbotstown.
The former Galway United member previously won an election in 2012 against John Croughan for the role of chairman of the National League Executive.
Naughton, who was unopposed, told a well-attended meeting: “I would like to congratulate all our clubs on a season which generated a lot of excitement and I would also like to pay tribute to the clubs and their members for their efforts during the year. I know it is not easy to run an elite football club and that it takes a tremendous amount of work and dedication.”
The FAI confirmed yesterday that the 2015 SSE Airtricity League season will kick-off on Friday, March 6, with President’s Cup Final between League champions Dundalk and FAI Cup winners St Patrick’s Athletic taking place on Sunday, February 28 with the venue to be announced later. The mid-season break is between June 13 and 25 (inclusive) with the EA SPORTS Cup Final on Saturday, September 19, and the FAI Cup Final on Sunday, November 8.
The convention also saw both Dundalk and Longford Town were presented with their league winner's flags.
