League Report: Cobh Ramblers 1-2 Galway FC

A ninety fifth minute penalty from Ryan Manning kept Galway’s promotion hopes alive down in St. Colman’s Park after he was fouled by Brendan Frahill with almost the last kick of the game. Cobh manager Martin Cambridge was “disgusted” with the penalty at the end that deprived the home side of a draw.

A stunning free kick from Ryan Connolly on nineteen minutes from twenty five yards proved the difference between the two sides at the break.

Cobh Ramblers got a deserved equaliser on fifty six minutes through former Waterford United player Craig Burns who headed in Stephen Kenny’s corner.

Galway was down to ten men on seventy four minutes when goal scorer Connolly got his marching orders for a second yellow card. The game was delayed for five minutes when Anthony O’Donnell injured his back in a clash with Gary Shanahan on eighty minutes.

Then came the injury time drama when Manning stepped up to put Galway one step closer to reaching the promised land of the Premier Division.
