Gareth Penrose is the founder of Extratime.ie. The site was originally thought up and named in the back of Kennedy’s pub in Drumcondra in early 2007 but it wasn’t until March 2008 that it appeared on the internet. Gareth was previously involved with Shelbourne Football Club where he ran the club website from 2001 to 2006.
Gareth has written many articles, covered many games, and got to experience Europa League finals and European Championships, but many would say his greatest achievements have been on the playing field. From scoring his first ever goal for Shelbourne to executing possibly the slowest falling down / bicycle kick in a 6-a-side media tournament.
Gareth is also responsible for coding and designing the site so any complaints about Extratime can be directed at him. He’s also been known to talk endlessly about TV shows and computers which you can follow over at his account on twitter. He now can be seen irregularly in the press box in Drogheda and ranting about attendance figures and European coefficients.
