Jason’s Biography
Jason came through the youth ranks at Sligo Rovers and made his senior Sligo debut towards the end of the 2004 season. In July 2006 he went on loan to Limerick 37 for the remainder of the season. He returned to Sligo for 2007 but in July he moved to Monaghan United and made his debut for his new team against Kilkenny City on July 27th. He sweetened his first game for the Mons with a goal.
McCartney signed for Athlone in 2008, making his club debut in their opening game of the season, a 2-0 defeat to Sporting Fingal on 16 March '08. In January 2009 Jason signed for Longford Town.
In 2010 he signed back at Sligo Rovers but made only three league appearances and played mostly for the club's A Championship side. He left Sligo at the close of the 2010 season.
