About James McClean  

James began his career in 2007 with Irish League side Institute, making 1 league appearance before joining Derry City in 2008. James scored on his Derry debut in a 4-1 League Cup win over Bohemians on 1 July 2008. He went on to play a key role in Derry City's First Division title winning season of 2010, making 30 league appearances and scoring eight goals and when Derry returned to the Premier Division in 2011. In August of that year he signed for English Premier Division side Sunderland.

James went on to make seventy appearances in all competitions for the Black Cats across two seasons before he moved to Championship side Wigan Athletic in August 2013. Another two seasons saw him play in over eighty games for Wigan before he returned to the Premier League when West Brom signed him June 2015.

James made his senior international debut for the Republic of Ireland against the Czech Republic in February 2011. Ahead of the friendlies with the 2016 European Championship, he has amassed 38 caps and 5 goals. He was included in the Republic of Ireland's final squad for the 2016 European Championship.
