Richard’s Biography
Richard is an Irish centre-back who plays for Aston Villa in the English Premier League.
He started out at Dublin side Home Farm before joining the Everton youth system in 1994. He made his first team debut, aged just seventeen, in 1997 and went on to make 60 league appearances for the Toffees. In the Autumn of 2000 he signed for Manchester City where he would make 296 league appearances over the following nine years.
In August 2009 he left Eastlands to sign for Martin O'Neill at Aston Villa.
Richard made his international debut for the Republic of Ireland against Greece in April 2000 and has since won more than 70 senior caps for his country.
