Paul’s Biography

Paul played for Greystones United and St. Joseph's Boys before joining Manchester United's youth academy in the summer of 2002. Loan spells at Walsall and Brighton & Hove Albion came in the 2004/05 and 2005/06 seasons respectively before he moved to West Brom in August 2006.

Paul spent a season at the Hawthorns before moving to Sunderland and only lasted one campaign there before heading out on loan to Hull City for the 2008/09 season. Hull made the loan permanent ahead of the next season and Paul went on to make over a hundred appearances for the Tigers, as well as taking in loan spells with Barnsley and Crystal Palace.

Paul's time at Hull City came to an end in July 2015 as he joined fellow Championship side Reading.

Paul made his senior international debut for the Republic of Ireland under Steve Staunton on 11 October 2006 against the Czech Republic. Ahead of the matches with Oman and Serbia, he has 33 caps to his name. He was not included in the Republic of Ireland's final squad for the 2016 European Championship.
