Callum came through Oxford United's youth academy to make his debut in August 2013 in a League Cup game against Charlton Athletic. By the end of the 2013/14 season, ten league appearances for the club. He had a breakthrough in the next League Two campaign as he went on to score four goals in thirty-nine league games in the 2014/15 season.

Callum has previously been called up to the Rep. of Ireland u21 squad. He was then called up to the Republic of Ireland senior squad in May 2016 ahead of the friendlies with the Netherlands and Belarus and was given his first cap against Belarus. He was not included in the Republic of Ireland's final squad for the 2016 European Championship. Ahead of the matches with Oman and Serbia, he has one cap to his name.
