Thomas’s Biography

Thomas played youth football at Portadown and Wolverhampton Wanderers but began his senior career at Linfield in Belfast. The Northern Ireland Under 21 international signed a full-time contract at Windsor Park on September 11th 2006 and scored on his Linfield debut against Limavady United at The Showgrounds, going on to make 46 league appearances over the following two seasons and scoring 13 league goals.

In June 2008 he signed for Stephen Kenny at Derry City and made his debut for the Candystripes as a substitute in a 0-0 draw away to Sligo Rovers on 5 July '08. In one and a half seasons at the Brandywell he scored ten league goals in 43 league appearances.

2010 saw the failure of a move to the US with Carolina Railhawks due to the lack of a work permit and in March of that year he signed for Shamrock Rovers. He made 32 league appearances and scored eight league goals as Rovers went on to lift the 2010 league title. However, Thomas' contract was not renewed for 2011.

In January 2011 Thomas signed for Scottish side Partick Thistle where he played until the summer of 2012. Then, in late July 2012, Thomas returned for a second spell at Shamrock Rovers, signing for his former Derry boss Stephen Kenny. He scored once in seven games as Rovers finished fouth in the league that year and in 2013 he scored three times in 23 league games as Rovers finished fifth but won the Setanta Cup and EA Sports Cup.

Thomas was released by Shamrock Rovers in October 2013 and spent the next few years playing in the US and Canada, but he returned to LOI football in February 2017 when again signed for Stephen Kenny, this time at triple title winning Dundalk.

In January 2018, Tommy signed for Larne FC after leaving Dundalk.
