Mulhall scored six goals in ten appearances but couldn't save Drogheda United from the drop.

Longford Town boost promotion chances with signing of prolific striker Mulhall
Published: November 14, 2017

Longford Town manager Neale Fenn has made his seventh new signing of the off-season with the addition of former UCD, Limerick and Drogheda United forward Chris Mulhall.

Despite tasting relegation with Drogheda, following his move from Limerick during the mid-season transfer window, Mulhall impressed Fenn enough to become his second outside recruit.

An experienced First Division stalwart with almost 98 games under his belt in the second tier of Irish football, Mulhall has remarkably been promoted with all his clubs while in the First Division.

That experience that should prove crucial in a potential promotion push next season at City Calling Stadium.

Mulhall, a dynamic attacking player, was the top scorer in Limerick’s successful 2016 campaign as they won the First Division to return to the top tier at the first attempt.

The Birmingham-born midfielder chipped in with 12 goals over his 28 appearances that season, leading him to be voted Player of the Year by his Blues teammates.

Having struggled to get into the team under Neil McDonald, making only two appearances under the former Blackpool boss, Mulhall moved to Drogheda United where he impressed, scoring six goals in ten games.
