Tom Costello signs for Galway United
The former Wigan and Coventry forward joins John Caulfield’s Tribesmen for the 2024 season.
20-year-old Costello spent the first half of the season with National League North side Southport, before returning to Coventry’s academy.
The Liverpudlian was persuaded to join United due to family who reside in the region.
“As soon as my agent mentioned the opportunity at Galway United, for me, especially with my family ties in this part of the world, it was a no-brainer. I instantly fell in love with the place.”
The striker is looking forward to his newest challenge in the SSE Airtricity Premier Division.
“The Premier Division promises to be a thrilling challenge, with the standards set to rise yet again from last season” the striker said.
“To the fans, come out in your numbers and support the team. We need you behind us.
“With St Patricks Athletic as our first opponent, it’s sure to be a tough game, but I hope to see the stadium rocking.”
The signing of Costello is another addition to the Galway United's squad ahead of the new season. Last week, Galway announced the arrival of goalkeeper Joe Wright from Millwall.
