Waterford land double loan signing of Scott Twine and Aaron Drinan

Strikers Scott Twine, 19, and Aaron Drinan, 20,  have signed for Waterford on loan until the summer. Twine arrives from Swindon Town, while Drinan returns to the RSC from Ipswich Town.

Twine, who recently signed a two and a half year contract with Swindon, made his first team debut in the 2016/2017 season, and scored in the F.A. Cup First Round against York City last November.

Speaking to the Swindon Advertiser, Swindon manager Richie Wellens said,”It’s just at this moment in time he is 19, and physically can he deal with the demands at this level week in, week out?”

“For me, he can’t, so it is about trying to get him up to that level as quickly as possible.”

Drinan has previously played for the Blues, and helped them win the First Division in 2017.

He signed for Ipswich Town in 2018 and also had a short loan spell with Sutton United in the same year.

The young striker spoke to WaterfordFC.ie, and sounded eager to be back.

“I’m delighted to be back at the club. I really enjoyed my time here before, I scored six or seven goals last time I think and I can’t wait to get started again.

“As soon as I heard Alan [Reynolds] and the club were interested, I wanted to come back straight away; I jumped at the chance.

“I’ve met some of the squad since I got in and I’m looking forward to meeting the others. Friday is a big game for the club and I’m looking forward to being back at the RSC again.”
