Watch: Padraig Amond's fine finish sets Newport County up for a glamour FA Cup tie with Pep Guardiola's Man City

Former Shamrock Rovers striker Padraig Amond continued his remarkable FA Cup exploits with Newport County’s second in a 2-0 FA Cup win over Middlesbrough to set up a meeting with Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City.

The Carlow man has established himself as a bit of a giant-killing merchant in the FA Cup as he played a part in wins over Leeds United and Leicester City, scoring the winner in the latter.

Amond played a pivotal role in securing the Rodney Parade outfit’s lucrative replay against Tottenham Hotspur last season, with his opener sending Michael Flynn’s side on their way to Wembley.

The striker, who has scored in all four rounds so far, all but secured County’s passage into the fifth round of the FA Cup with a sublime strike from inside the penalty area on Tuesday night after Robbie Wilmott had given Newport the lead.

Wilmott was the provider as he whizzed in a dangerous ball for the 30-year-old to smash past Greek shot-stopper Dimitrios Konstantopoulos.

The 14th placed League Two side must now prepare themselves for a glamour home tie against Premier League champions Manchester City at Rodney Parade.
