Glenavon sign Robert Garrett from Linfield

Danske Bank Premier League side Glenavon have announced the signing of Linfield midfielder Robert Garrett.

The 28-year-old player joins Glenavon, who are fourth in the Danske Bank Premier League, on a two- and half-year deal.

Previously of Stoke City as a youth, Garrett made two senior appearances for the Potters during a three-year stint at the current EFL Championship club.

Following his time at the Britannia Stadium, the Belfast native joined hometown club Linfield where he went on to make 236 appearances for the Blues in two stints at Windsor Park.

In addition, Garrett also spent three years at Portadown as the five-time senior Northern Irish International made 114 showings at Shamrock Park.

“Robert is a player I tried to sign when he left Portadown to re-join Linfield in 2017.” Glenavon boss Gary Hamilton told the club’s official website.

“I’m delighted to get him over the line.

“He’s a guy with massive experience of this league and thankfully, now we’ve got him, I think he’ll add to us and be a big lift around the Club which we need at this minute in time.

“Hopefully he will go on and perform the way I know he can.”
