Structure for under 13 National League confirmed

The structure for the new SSE Airtricity National Under 13 League has been confirmed.

The league, which begins in March, will see 24 teams split into four regionalised leagues.

There will be six teams in each of the four leagues, with the top two teams qualifying for the finals stage, alongside the two best placed third-placed teams.

Each of the 20 SSE Airtricity League clubs will have an under-13 side with Kildare & District Underage League, Kerry League, Mayo League and Monaghan / Cavan FP making up the other four teams.

The under-13 league will run alongside the under-15, under-17 and under-19 national leagues.

Fixtures for the 2019 national underage leagues are to be released on Wednesday, 30th January.

"I would like to congratulate Kildare & District Underage League, Kerry Schoolboys League, Mayo League and Monaghan/Cavan FP on securing a place in the new SSE Airtricity National Under 13 League," said Fran Gavin, FAI Competitions Director.

"The spread of teams across the country is important in making sure all players from across the country have the opportunity to play in our national leagues.

"The continued growth of our national underage structures is exciting for the future of Irish football and we're looking forward to the start of the season in March," Gavin said.
