Linfield update on loan deals

Linfield manager David Healy has announced that Eamon Scannell and Jonathan Smith will spend the remainder of the season out on loan.

Scannell has spent the first half of this season with Warrenpoint Town and will stay with Stephen McDonnell’s until the end of the season.

“I want to advise our supporters that we’ve agreed with Warrenpoint Town that Eamon Scannell will remain on loan there until the end of the season,” confirmed Healy.

“He’s made a good impression there in the first half of the season and I’m happy that he should continue to benefit from the opportunities for first team game time that he’s enjoyed at Warrenpoint.”

Jonathan Smith has joined Ards on loan for the remainder of the 2018/19 season after finding his first team chances at Linfield limited.

21-year-old Smith joined Linfield from Glentoran following his return to Northern Ireland after spells at Ipswich Town and Torquay United in England.

He spent a period of last season on loan at Carrick Rangers before completing his move to Linfield.

“Jonathan hasn’t had too many first team opportunities this season, so he will benefit greatly from the increased opportunities for game time that this loan move will hopefully give him.

“I want to wish both players every success with their loan moves over the rest of this season,” Healy said.
