Ireland international Denise O'Sullivan extends loan deal with Canberra United until the summer

Republic of Ireland international Denise O’Sullivan will remain in Australia with Canberra United until the summer after agreeing an extension with the W-League club.

O’Sullivan’s loan deal from North Carolina Courage had finished in defeat to Melbourne City at the weekend, but has now been extended until the end of the current season.

24-year-old O’Sullivan played a starring role as the Courage won the 2018 National Women’s Soccer League in the United States.

And the Cork midfielder opted to take up an option as a guest player in Australia for the first eight rounds of the season.

Following the departure of American striker Paige Nielsen due to personal reasons, Canberra have been able to extend O’Sullivan’s stay until the summer.

“Denise has been simply outstanding for us so far this season,” said Canberra head coach Heather Garriock.

“She will now remain with the club for the rest of the season, and that is a positive for the squad not just on the field but off the field as well.”

Canberra currently sit seventh in the nine-team W-League after eight rounds, and O’Sullivan will be available when the second round of fixtures kicks off against Brisbane Roar on Thursday.
