Bohemians sign back 'important figure' Kevin Devaney for 2019

Bohemians have announced the re-signing of ‘important figure’ Kevin Devaney as the Dublin club plot a course for 2019.

Devaney joined Keith Long's side for a second spell at Dalymount Park ahead of the 2018 season following Galway United's relegation to the First Division.

The Sligo man played 26 times in the league for Bohemians last season, scoring five times – once against Limerick and twice against both Bray Wanderers and St. Patrick’s Athletic.

He also the only goal of the game as Bohs’ beat Peterhead 1-0 away in the Irn-Bru Challenge Cup Second Round in September.

Prior to his two-year stint with Galway, he had played for his home-town club Sligo Rovers and had his first stint at Bohemians after signing from Finn Harps.

Speaking to the club’s official website, manager Keith Long expressed his delight at Devaney re-signing with the Gypsies.

“I’m delighted to have Kevin commit to us for next season,” Long said.

“He developed into an important figure for us. He is a very good player – defensively and offensively.

“He has developed a great partnership on the left-hand side with Darragh Leahy and a lot of our play came down that wing this year, so it’s important that we can keep that partnership going for next season and build upon it.”
