UCD Waves keeper Erica Turner named Women's National League Young Player of the Year

UCD Waves goalkeeper Erica Turner has been named Women’s National League Young Player of the Year.

The 18-year-old was presented with the honour at the annual Continental Tyres/Women’s National League awards in Ballsbridge, Dublin on Friday night.

Republic of Ireland under-19 international Turner was understudy to Brooke Dunne last season but has firmly established herself as number one in 2018.

Turner, who started out with St Joseph's Boys, was part of Dave Connell’s under-19 side that failed to qualify for the under-19 European Championships following defeats to Spain and Turkey in April.

The youngster made her debut for Waves in a 5-0 victory over Peamount United in September 2016, shortly after making the move from Shelbourne.

Wexford Youths striker Rianna Jarrett was named senior Player of the Year, while Shelbourne’s Emily Whelan was named under-17 Player of the Year.
