FAI Cup replay to be shown live on RTE

The keenly anticipated Irish Daily Mail FAI Cup semi-final replay between last year’s double winners Cork City and Bohemians will be shown live on RTÉ 2 next Monday evening.

Due to television scheduling, the kick-off time at Turners Cross has been brought forward to 7.30pm on Monday evening.

The opening tie proved to be a tight and contentious affair as Keith Long’s young Bohs were more than a match for their more experienced counterparts from down south (see match report here).

So much so, City required a contentious penalty decision to go their way, as Kieran Sadlier stepped up to slot home three minutes from time following Dinny Corcoran’s opener.

With the allocated television slot for the game clashing with the usual Soccer Republic time of 7pm on Monday evening, Soccer Republic will begin at 7pm on RTÉ2 and RTÉ Player, before turning over to live coverage of the game from 7.25pm.

There will also be radio commentary on of the game on RTÉ Radio 1 Extra as both sides will be gunning to make the Aviva Stadium showpiece event on November 4thagainst fellow Premier Division side Dundalk who defeated UCD in their respective semi-final at Oriel Park.

City are seeking to progress and go on and win three FAI Cups in a row while Bohs are seeking to make their first cup final in a decade.

The FAI has also confirmed that the SSE Airtricity League match between Sligo Rovers and Bohemians at the Showgrounds will take place on Monday 22 October (kick-off 7.45pm). This change was due to Bohs’ FAI Cup semi-final replay this coming Monday.
