Cork City keeper Mark McNulty a late call-up to Manchester United side for Liam Miller tribute match

Cork City goalkeeper Mark McNulty is a late call-up for the Manchester United XI to face Celtic/Ireland in this afternoon’s Liam Miller tribute game at Páirc Uí Chaoimh.

McNulty, who was a longtime friend of Miller from their days playing underage football together in Ballincollig, replaces Roy Carroll who has had to pull out at short notice.

The 38-year-old will share goalkeeping duties with former Red Devils keeper Kevin Pilkington, while former international David Forde will keep goal for the Irish selection.

The fundraising game will witness a host of high-profile former teammates of Corkman Miller, who passed away in February following a battle with pancreatic cancer.

The likes of Roy Keane, Ryan Giggs, Paul Scholes and Gary Neville will represent Man United while Damien Duff, Robbie Keane and Kevin Kilbane will line out for Ireland.

Miller began his career with Celtic, where he made his breakthrough under Martin O’Neill before signing for Manchester United in 2014.

He went on to represent Leeds United, Sunderland, Hibernian, Perth Glory, Brisbane Roar and Melbourne City before joining his hometown club in 2015.

The match will be broadcast live on Virgin Media Three, with coverage beginning at 2pm ahead of the 3pm kick-off.
