Watch: Ireland's Tyler Toland lucky to avoid serious injury after being on the end of horror lunge

The Republic of Ireland finished their World Cup qualifying campaign on a positive note with a 4-0 win over Northern Ireland in Tallaght on Friday evening.

The home side made light work of their neighbours on the night, racing into a three-goal lead with the first half hour before adding a fourth after the break.

Leanne Kiernan scored twice to finish the group as Ireland's top scorer with five, while Katie McCabe's double brought her up to four for the series.

One of the success stories of the campaign has been the emergence of 16-year-old Donegal midfielder Tyler Toland.

The Maiden City player was very lucky not to be seriously injured, however, as the result of a badly-misjudged tackle from Northern Ireland's Kerry Montgomery early on.

The Motherwell midfielder went a long way over the top of the ball and caught Toland high up on the knee, but referee Angelika Soder inexplicably produced just a yellow card.
