Ireland international Marc Wilson joins Bolton Wanderers from Sunderland
Ireland international Marc Wilson sealed a move to Bolton Wanderers from Sunderland shortly before the English transfer window shut on Wednesday.
The 30-year-old Irish international has experience playing both in midfield and at the back and will be a big boost to Phil Parkinson as the Championship season gets into full swing.
Wilson spent time as a teenager with the Manchester United Centre of Excelence in Belfast before signing up with Portsmouth as a 17-year-old.
He enjoyed four good seasons at Fratton Park which included short term loans at Yeovil, Luton and Bournemouth, and helped the club to the 2010 FA Cup final.
Portsmouth's relegation sealed a move to Stoke City. A six-year stay included an appearance in an FA Cup Final and the Europa League.
Further loan stints at Bournemouth and West Brom then followed before he spent the 2017/18 Premier League season with Sunderland.
“It's good to be here,” Wilson told the club's official website.
“I spoke to the manager a while back and he was really positive about it. For me personally it is a good chance to get playing football again and hopefully help the club to do well.
