Dundalk part company with striker Marco Tagbajumi

Nigerian striker Marco Tagbajumi has parted company with Dundalk after less than five months with the Oriel Park outfit.
The 30-year-old struggled for game time throughout his short spell with Dundalk in light of the form of the league’s top scorer Patrick Hoban.
The acquisition of UCD striker Georgie Kelly last week has deemed Tagbajumi surplus to requirements.
Tagbajumi scored just twice in his 16 league appearances, although he never actually started a match in the SSE Airtricity League.
His only other goal for the club came in an EA Sports Cup second round tie with St Patrick’s Athletic, in which he also scored the decisive spot kick in a penalty shootout win as Dundalk advanced.
The 30-year-old, who became something of a cult hero during his time at Oriel, took to Twitter to express his gratitude towards the club and its supporters.
“I’m sad to say that my time here at Dundalk FC is up,” Tagbajumi wrote.
“I would like to thank the management, players, staff and supporters for welcoming me and taking such good care of me.
“I wish you many more years of sucsess [sic]. On that not [sic] I’m signing off with one last #DUDUDUMARCOTAGBAJUMI.”

A club statement read: “Everyone at Dundalk Football Club wish Marco well in his future career and wish to put on record our thanks to him for all is efforts during his time at the club.”
Tagbajumi grew up in London and spent time with non-league side Kingsburg London Tigers before enjoying spells in Portugal and Cyprus.
After leaving AEL Limassol in 2015, he spent time in Thailand and Norway before joining the Lilywhites at the beginning of the current season.
