Australia and Peru bow out of World Cup 2018 as France and Denmark play out first scoreless draw

France and Denmark march on to the last 16 of the World Cup after playing out a dire scoreless draw in Luzhniki.

Australia joined Peru on the flight home after they fell to a 2-0 defeat to Los Incas in Sochi, ensuring Peru bowed out of their first World Cup in 36 years with a win.

André Carrillo and captain Paolo Guerrero scored in either half for Ricardo Gareca's side.

36-year-old Guerrero make what is almost certainly his final World Cup game with a goal, while 38-year-old Tim Cahill likely played his final game as a late sub for the Aussies.

France, as group winners, will face whichever of Nigeria, Iceland or Argentina finishes second in Group D, in Kazan on Saturday night.

Iceland meet Croatia this evening in Rostov-on-Don, while Nigeria face Argentina in St Petersburg, with Nigeria needing just a point to progress.

Denmark will face Group D winners Croatia in Nizhny Novgorod on Sunday afternoon
