Former Sligo Rovers defender Jeff Henderson joins Morpeth Town

Former Sligo Rovers defender Jeff Henderson has signed for newly-promoted Northern Premier League side Morpeth Town in England.

The Northumberland native spent three years with Sligo Rovers, helping them to Premier Division and FAI Cup titles, but struggled with persistent injuries in his final days at the Bit o' Red.

26-year-old Henderson returned to England in 2015 and lined out for Stobworth while working his way back to fitness.

“It’s why I play the game, to win games and be part of the big occasions,” Henderson told the club's official website.

“There’s no better feeling and that will be the aim at Morpeth this season: to win. I’m really happy to be joining the club as I wanted to get back to playing a good level of football.

“It’s a great set-up and has been very successful over previous years. I’m thankful to be given the opportunity and I am looking to take it with both hands.”
